Changelog
New converters, guides and fixes, newest first. Found a problem? Tell us.
Accessibility and mobile fixes
- Green, amber and red text now meets contrast requirements on light backgrounds, and page headings no longer skip levels.
- The URL to Markdown start bar no longer scrolls sideways on phones.
Obsidian notes, working heading links, and five new guides
- Document exports now understand Obsidian notes: wikilinks, embeds, callouts, highlights, comments and block IDs are converted instead of printed as typed. See exporting Obsidian notes.
- Links to headings, including a table of contents written in Markdown, now work in HTML, PDF, Word and EPUB output.
- New guides: Slack formatting, Jira formatting, Markdown in Notion and Pandoc alternative.
- Markdown to Slack has a new option for where you post: bots and webhooks, or the message box with markup turned on, since each reads links differently.
- Markdown to Jira now says plainly that it produces wiki markup for Jira Data Center, Server and the REST API; Jira Cloud’s editor reads Markdown directly.
Markdown Formatter & Linter
- New Markdown Formatter & Linter: consistent lists, headings, tables and spacing, with optional line wrapping, plus a check for skipped heading levels, extra H1s, empty links, images without alt text and uneven tables.
Markdown TOC Generator
- New Markdown TOC Generator: build a table of contents from your headings with GitHub, GitLab or Obsidian links, choose the heading levels and list style, and keep it up to date between markers.
URL to Markdown and Text to Markdown
- New URL to Markdown: enter a web address and get the article as clean Markdown — no menus, ads or cookie banners — with absolute links.
- New Text to Markdown: plain text, emails and PDF copy-pastes become Markdown with headings, lists, tables and code.
Confluence, OneNote and Notion; Jira fixes
- New Markdown to Confluence: formatted text for Confluence Cloud, or wiki markup with code macros and info panels for Data Center.
- New Confluence to Markdown: paste page content, storage format or wiki markup; panels, code languages and task lists are kept.
- New Markdown to OneNote: paste notes into OneNote with headings, tables and code that keeps its indentation.
- New Notion to Markdown: removes the IDs from a Notion export’s file names and links, for Obsidian, Git or one merged document.
- Jira to Markdown now keeps code languages written as language=…, converts bq. quotes, mixed numbered/bulleted lists, images and forced line breaks, and no longer splits a table cell that contains a link.
WhatsApp and Telegram formatting
- New Markdown to WhatsApp: bold, italic, lists and quotes in WhatsApp’s own markers, with tables as aligned blocks or label/value lines.
- New Markdown to Telegram: text for the Telegram app, or Bot API MarkdownV2 and HTML with every special character escaped.
- Markdown to Slack now turns tables into aligned code blocks or label/value lines instead of leaving the pipes.
Jupyter notebooks and EPUB e-books
- New Jupyter (IPYNB) to Markdown: Markdown cells, code and outputs in one file, with pandas DataFrames as tables and a choice of how to handle plots.
- New EPUB to Markdown: DRM-free e-books become one Markdown file with chapters in reading order.
- New Markdown to EPUB: a valid EPUB 3 e-book with chapters and a table of contents, ready for Kindle, Apple Books and Kobo.
- YAML front matter (from Obsidian, Jekyll or Hugo) is no longer printed in Word, PDF, HTML or plain-text exports; its title names the document instead.
- HTML to Markdown joins headings that contain line breaks into one line and drops empty headings.
- HTML tables with several heading rows (such as pandas MultiIndex columns) now become one clean Markdown heading row.
Claude to Word and Claude to PDF
- New Claude to Word and Claude to PDF for Claude replies and Markdown artifacts, with equations and code handled properly.
- The Word preview now shows equations typeset, as they will appear in the document.
- PDF exports colour code by language, matching the preview.
- Function names and
\text{…}in Word equations are set upright, as in LaTeX.
Web pages and slide decks, ready for AI
- HTML to Markdown keeps only the main content of a saved web page — menus, cookie banners, share bars and footers are removed — and handles tables with lists or spanning headers.
- PowerPoint to Markdown follows the deck’s real slide order, keeps bold, italic, links, numbered lists and image alt text, and marks hidden slides.
- Speaker notes exported from PowerPoint go back into the notes pane when converted with Markdown to PowerPoint.
- Markdown to Google Docs explains Google Docs’ new built-in .md editing and when a converted Doc is still the better choice.
- New guide: copy equations from ChatGPT into Word as editable equations.
Better PDF import, math in PDF and Word, page breaks
- PDF to Markdown rebuilt: two-column papers read in the right order, bold and italic come from the real fonts, tables are rebuilt from column alignment, and running headers, footers and page numbers are removed.
- Word to Markdown lets you choose what happens to images: a placeholder with the alt text, embedded images, or none.
- Markdown to PDF typesets LaTeX math, starts a new page at
\pagebreakor<!-- pagebreak -->, and can add a table of contents. - Markdown to Word turns LaTeX math into native, editable Word equations.
- Markdown to plain text now handles autolinks, reference links, footnotes, inline HTML, entities and
$…$math, and writes a link whose text is its URL only once.
